Chef Sonya Hawkins
As a child, Sonya had always had the desire to cook. Growing up watching and helping her mother Minnie Hawkins, who is famous in the Muncie Community for cooking at the Big Wheel and 12th Street Cafe. Sonya assist her mother in preparing, her special dressing around the Holidays at 12th Street Cafe.
As Sonya got older, she branched out and started cooking for friends and family gatherings over the years. Sonya has shared food ideas and recipes on social media, along with Sistahz & Brothaz That Can Cook. Her demand for her food has increased. Sonya has always been a factory worker, but her desired was to cook. Sonya dreamed of running her own restaurant one day and that day finally came true, with the help of owner Mrs. Andrea Venable-Bond. Mrs. Bond set out to look for a soul food chef and came across Sonya Hawkins. Mrs. Bond and her family fell in love with Sonya's cooking and discovered that Sonya was the one who should take on and run Mama Bond's Soul Food Kitchen, whose name originates from Andrea's late mother-in-law, Mama Regina Bond. Mama Regina Bond was known for her kindness, generosity, and her good cooking.
